Build your outside room

Decks & Outdoor Living:
styles & options.

A useful deck plan begins with the furniture, movement and activities the space needs to support. We build and replace decks, with wood and composite options, stairs and railings. Share what works about your current space and what you want the new one to do differently.

Build the way you want to live outside.

The right deck starts with the furniture, people and everyday movement it needs to accommodate. Then compare surfaces, railings, stairs and the connection to the yard.

Wood deck projects

Explore a wood surface and the railing details that suit your home. Include your preferred finish and the care you want to plan for as part of the conversation.

Replacement and a new layout

02

Replacement and a new layout

Use the existing footprint as a starting point, not a requirement. Discuss what is awkward now, what you want to enlarge or change, and which parts of the old structure need review.

Stairs, landings and railings
Beaufort Fence project
03

Stairs, landings and railings

Plan the route between the house, deck and yard. Review the placement of stairs, usable landing space, railings and any gate needed for the way your household moves outside.

04

Composite surface options

Ask about available composite systems alongside wood. Identify the selected product, color, board profile, compatible framing and railing choices in the proposal. A surface choice does not settle the whole structural scope.

The details make the difference

Think through every detail.

01

Draw the furniture before deciding the footprint

Think about a table with chairs pulled out, a grill with usable clearance and the routes people take between doors and stairs. Sketch the activities you want to fit instead of beginning with a dimension alone. Include future plans for shade, a covered area or a connection to the fence.

02

Separate the surface from the structure

Decking, framing, support, attachment, stairs and guards are different parts of the project. For a replacement, ask which components are being removed and which, if any, are proposed to remain. A new-looking surface should not be assumed to resolve questions about the structure below it.

03

Make the finishing and approval scope clear

Identify the reviewing jurisdiction, any community design requirements and the intended work before starting. Discuss staining or finishing, debris removal and related electrical or other trade work separately. The estimate should make clear what is included and which approvals or outside services still need to be arranged.

What shapes your
deck cost?

The right comparison is the complete scope, not a one-size-fits-all price. These are the details to bring into your free estimate.

Size and elevation

Share the footprint, height and connection to the home.

Surface and structure

Separate decking selections from the supporting work.

Stairs and railings

Include the number of exits, landings and railing scope.

Removal and additions

Identify demolition, finishing and any covered-structure plans.

Before we get started

A few good questions.

Do you build both wood and composite decks?

Yes. We can discuss wood and composite options for the project. Specific products and brands should be confirmed in the proposal.

Can you replace a deck and change the layout?

Yes. Share the current layout and what you want to change, including stairs, railings and access from the house. The proposed structure and approvals need to be reviewed for the site.

Can I combine a fence and deck project?

Yes. Let us know that both are part of your plan. The estimate can address the separate scopes and how you want the outdoor space to work together.

Can I replace the boards but keep the existing deck frame?

That requires a review of the existing structure and compatibility with the proposed surface. Share what is there now and what you want changed. Do not assume resurfacing is appropriate until the supporting components and scope have been assessed.

How do I decide between wood and composite?

Compare the appearance, product options, care expectations and the complete installation scope. Ask for the selected product and compatible construction to be identified in the estimate rather than comparing only the price of surface boards.

What details make the first deck estimate more useful?

Send the location, photos from above and below where safely accessible, rough dimensions, door and stair locations and the changes you want. Include any plans, community restrictions or preferred material examples.
