The details make the difference

Think about a table with chairs pulled out, a grill with usable clearance and the routes people take between doors and stairs. Sketch the activities you want to fit instead of beginning with a dimension alone. Include future plans for shade, a covered area or a connection to the fence.
Decking, framing, support, attachment, stairs and guards are different parts of the project. For a replacement, ask which components are being removed and which, if any, are proposed to remain. A new-looking surface should not be assumed to resolve questions about the structure below it.
Identify the reviewing jurisdiction, any community design requirements and the intended work before starting. Discuss staining or finishing, debris removal and related electrical or other trade work separately. The estimate should make clear what is included and which approvals or outside services still need to be arranged.
A useful estimate starts here
The right comparison is the complete scope, not a one-size-fits-all price. These are the details to bring into your free estimate.
Share the footprint, height and connection to the home.
Separate decking selections from the supporting work.
Include the number of exits, landings and railing scope.
Identify demolition, finishing and any covered-structure plans.
That is enough to start. Tell us what you want to change and where you are building.

Before we get started
Yes. We can discuss wood and composite options for the project. Specific products and brands should be confirmed in the proposal.
Yes. Share the current layout and what you want to change, including stairs, railings and access from the house. The proposed structure and approvals need to be reviewed for the site.
Yes. Let us know that both are part of your plan. The estimate can address the separate scopes and how you want the outdoor space to work together.
That requires a review of the existing structure and compatibility with the proposed surface. Share what is there now and what you want changed. Do not assume resurfacing is appropriate until the supporting components and scope have been assessed.
Compare the appearance, product options, care expectations and the complete installation scope. Ask for the selected product and compatible construction to be identified in the estimate rather than comparing only the price of surface boards.
Send the location, photos from above and below where safely accessible, rough dimensions, door and stair locations and the changes you want. Include any plans, community restrictions or preferred material examples.
